Welcome Home: Presidium’s Housing Efforts

By January 25, 2019August 25th, 2020No Comments

At Presidium, we focus on creating sustainable, affordable and inclusive communities for everyone. Over the years, we have made it our mission to create solutions that support the greater good and give back to our communities. We understand that a community is about more than concrete sidewalks or asphalt parking lots. Presidium strives to create communities you are proud to call home, where people can live, work and play in an enriched environment that has a positive impact on the surrounding area.

From our charitable efforts to our workforce housing, here are just a few things we do to help welcome you home.

Metro Dallas Homeless Alliance

The Metro Dallas Homeless Alliance’s (MDHA) primary purpose is to develop an effective homelessness response system. This system was built component by component to create a unified system that will make the experience of homelessness in Dallas and Collin Counties rare, brief and non-recurring. MDHA brings together more than 85 shelter, housing and supportive services programs in retooling homeless services into a crisis response system. That’s where Presidium has stepped in.

We understand that a safe, comfortable place is essential to help these people succeed. With our dedication to supporting this cause and the help of MDHA, so far, we have assisted over 20 residents in receiving quality housing at an affordable price.

Section 8 Housing Vouchers

The Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program provides rental assistance payments on behalf of low-income individuals and families, including the elderly and the disabled. This program offers individuals financial assistance to reside in decent, safe and sanitary housing. At Presidium, we have always done our part in assisting those eligible individuals at our select properties and we will continue to be a supporter of this program.

American GI Forum and Endeavors

American GI Forum (AGIF) and Endeavors, formally known as Family Endeavors, have worked side by side to assist the City of San Antonio’s efforts in ending veteran homelessness through the San Antonio Mayors Challenge to End Veteran Homelessness. AGIF is dedicated to addressing problems of inequalities and discrimination. One of Endeavors many services focuses on providing homelessness prevention and rapid re-housing services to veterans who are at risk of becoming homeless. To enhance their efforts, Presidium paired up with AGIF and Endeavors to provide quality housing for Veterans in the San Antonio area.

From 2017 to early 2019, we were able to provide housing to approximately 45 veterans. Additionally, our efforts have led to San Antonio implementing a support system that ensures no veterans sleep on the streets, and that each veteran has access to permanent housing. But, at Presidium, we went one step further after learning how many veterans did not have basic living supplies. We put together the ‘Stock the Pantry’ campaign to supply these items for veterans in their new home.

Free Libraries in Dallas Properties

A lack of proficient literacy skills has far-reaching consequences for children and society. With this said, Presidium wanted to play an integral role in encouraging the lasting advantages that come with literacy and early learning. Many of our Dallas properties have free miniature libraries for children living on site. Presidium encourages its children and guests to check out, read and explore the books at no cost.

The Ending Community Homelessness Coalition (ECHO)

Located in the City of Austin, ECHO is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and is the lead agency that plans and implements community-wide strategies to end homelessness in Austin and Travis County. ECHO is the backbone for the homeless services system and works closely with nonprofits and government agencies to coordinate assistance and housing for people experiencing homelessness in our community.

Presidium has partnered with ECHO and the Refugees Services of Texas Program to help families in need find a permanent home within a handful of Presidium’s Austin multifamily communities.

Through our housing efforts, we strive to bring quality, safe living to all. By partnering with great organizations that share our beliefs, we believe it’s possible.
