A student selecting a backpack at Presidium’s The Thread community in Dallas
For just about every student, the bell has officially rung and the 2021 school year is in full swing. This new school year meant students were heading back to in-person learning, leaving parents with the responsibility of purchasing and shopping for school supplies. According to an article on Yahoo, a survey revealed that more than 66% of the 500 parents polled said they are seeking financial assistance with back-to-school expenses. Of those seeking help, 81% are looking for backpacks and basic school supplies. Presidium understands that a little can go a long way, which is why every year a handful of our Dallas communities host a back-to-school drive to ensure students receive the essentials they need to start the school year on the right foot and alleviate the cost of these essentials for parents.
Presidium is committed not only to providing families with comfortable and quality housing, but also empowering our youth and promoting quality education for the future of the upcoming generations. We understand that a community is about more than concrete sidewalks or asphalt parking lots, it’s about creating a place to call home where people can live, work and play in an enriched environment that has a positive impact. We are “Presidium Proud” to say our communities are able to provide the basic necessities for back to school including 250 backpacks with supplies.

Each of our Dallas communities put their own unique twist on the back-to-school events they hosted for their residents. For example, team members at The Thread raffled away backpacks to residents where students selected which backpack design they had their heart set on. The Villas at Tension Park provided pizza and goodie bags along with backpacks filled with essentials ranging from folders, pencils, paper and more.

Whether you’re sitting at a desk or on your couch, the educational development of our children is pivotal to a society that stretches from generation to generation and beyond. Presidium is grateful for our team members who represent our mission of community enhancement as they look forward to hosting more events in the months to follow.
